Sex & the Single Woman: I Do . . . Need a Date
Last night I was out to dinner with a bunch of my guy friends when two of them asked me at what age it’s awkward to go to a wedding alone.
After getting over the shock of such a deep question coming from my friends, I sat back and thought about it. At what age is it too awkward to go to a wedding alone?
I figured that first you have to determine whether it’s a family wedding or a friend’s wedding. Family weddings have the advantage of you possibly knowing more people, but also having family questioning, “Why don’t you have a boyfriend?”
I’m inclined to say it’s more awkward to go to a friend’s wedding solo, because it will be filled with people your age . . . With dates. As much as I would like to think that I am confident enough to fly solo in any situation, I doubt that’s true.
What are your wedding experiences? At what age do think you need a date at a wedding, even if it’s just a close friend?

How quaint that you have time to go to weddings. As a widow, no one invites me anywhere, fearing I will be too honest with my thoughts and make them look like they just fell off the turnip truck… It’s lonely at the top. That’s why I go everywhere by myself, or with my 20 year old son, who I am grooming for excellence.
