Sex & the Single Woman: Fall into the Season

This time of year always interests me. The nights get darker sooner, the air is crisper and there is a sense of calmness that summer seemed to make us forget is possible.

Over the past few years, I’ve noticed that relationships and the way in which people approach them reflects this as well. For example, during the warmer months, there is a lightness, an almost noncommittal sense of things. Case in point: summer flings. Clothing is minimal and the hot weather seems to make everyone just a little bolder.

When colder weather sets in, relationships gain a sense of seriousness. School is back in session, shortened work days fade away and everyone seems to be back in a business state of mind.

There’s something about this I love. While I appreciate the seemingly reckless nature of a summer romance, right now I am in a fall state of mind. I’m ready for men to be just a touch more streamlined, to see the transition into true tests of relationships: the cold of winter.
