Sex & the Single Woman: Love?

While I was getting my reality TV fix yesterday, I came across the perfect marriage of wedding and self-promotion. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Kim Kardashian. To be honest, I generally really Kim K. However, as far as celebrities go, she has mastered the art of shameless self-promotion. Naturally her wedding would be no exception.

In addition to a $170,000 registry, the wealthy TV star has developed a wedding day perfume to be sold for $100 a pop. With almost 800 bottles up for grabs, Miss K stands to makes almost a million on sales alone. Talk about getting the most bang for your buck.

While I understand the huge marketing potential behind this scheme, a part of me wonders if Kim isn’t taking the love of her wedding. Isn’t this supposed to be about the couple … not the wallet?

An engagement is a time to celebrate, to be happy. Not, in my opinion, a time to profit from an already multi-million dollar empire. Kim, you are already all over our television and magazines … Don’t lose yourself in this special time in your life.
