Sex & the Single Woman: Should Have Put a Label on It

All the single ladies, all the single ladies. Alllllllll the single ladies, all the single ladies . . .  If you like it then you should have put a label on it . . .

Or at least I think so. And I hate labels.

The inspiration behind my current musings come from looking at pairs who act like they are in a relationship when in actuality they are not. I come at this topic from two different perspectives. The first is my best guy friend, who people often mistake for being my boyfriend. We have no intentions of ever dating, so our unofficial label is good friends. And that’s fine with me.

The second perspective comes from another close guy friend I have. At times, it seems like we are about to start dating, and at times it seems like it will never happen. The more I know him, however, the more I realize that if I had the label “girlfriend,” things would be much different. I know that seems like an obvious statement, but it’s small things like the way his parents would view me that make me reconsider my opposition to labels.

So, guys, if you really like a girl, talk about putting a label on it. It does make a difference.
