Sex & the Single Woman: The Case of the Ex

What is it about a break up that causes one to have a severe bout of memory loss?

Take, for instance, my roommate. Today she was at work and in strolled in a guy she casually dated a few years ago. (Quick summary: he was a jerk, she deserved better, she got better. The end.) Anyway, he totally ignored her, despite the fact that he was the one who turned out to be the loser.

When we break up are we entitled to forget everything that happened in the brief period of time known as “the relationship”? I am a firm believer in people  learning from their mistakes and embracing their past. Ignoring a relationship means ignoring everything. . . both the good and the bad.

What do you think? Does a break up allow for memory loss?
