Sex & the Single Woman: Three Magic Words
If there is ever a benchmark in a relationship, it is when those three special words are exchanged. As monumental as they are, the moment shouldn’t be hasty. This leaves me wondering….when is the right time to say “I love you”?
For some reason, in my teens it was ingrained in my head that this event should occur somewhere around the three month mark. Now that I’m older, however, I have found that I am definitely not any more enlightened. In fact, I still have no idea when you should say “I love you.”
For some of my girlfriends, I have found that the right time is as soon as a few weeks into the relationship. For others, it was past the six month mark before this magical moment occurred. I’m all in favor of keeping things slow, but is there a time when it should be said or a time when it is too soon?
Is there a formula for the right time? Are we dooming ourselves by saying it too early, or are we hurting ourselves by waiting to say it too late?
What do you think, is there a right time to say “I love you”?
