SMW Celebrity Scene: TV Land Fills, Iconoclasts, and More…
It’s been a whirlwind month as we cast and shoot the second season of the hit TV Land show “She’s Got the Look,” a modeling competition that finds the next great face over 35 years old. We didn’t finish Sunday’s shoot until 2:00 a.m., and I’m eager for some R & R.
Overall, everything has been fantastic and this season’s women are drop-dead gorgeous. The viewers will also enjoy guest appearances by Fredrique, Rachel Hunter and Fern Malice, head of New York’s Fashion Week. The show is slated to air in June, but the fans have been begging for a sooner date. We’ll see…
Besides the show, spending two months in New York City is quite the change for me as I’m usually on the golf course in California, but I’ve been enjoying my stay. Needless to say, New York always has something fabulous going on.
I’ve enjoyed watching the presidential debates at Denise Rich’s home, taking photos with my daughter, the model Anansa Sims, and famed photographer Fadil Berisha, and hitting the media circuit to speak out about uterine fibroids, an important health topic that affects many women.
Earlier in the month I attended the party for Sundance Channel’s “Iconoclasts” Season 4 at Kiss & Fly. I wore a classic yet sexy black dress by renowned couture designer B. Michael. President and Founder of the Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson, recording artist Wyclef Jean, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkely and Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley were all there.
I’ve spent time with Iman and Helena Christensen this month at the premiere of BET’s “Real Life Divas” show. Cecily Tyson was also present as glamorous as ever.
I wore a gorgeous Nicole Miller dress that night, which I also donned to the Lucky Strike Lanes grand opening in Midtown on October 23. Mario Lopez, one of the hardest working men in TV, was there as was the beautiful singer Cassie. I prefer golf balls to bowling balls, but I will say that the event was a lot of fun and LuckyStrike Lanes is a cool spot for a party.
Rounding out the wonderful month of October, I wore a Karen Millen dress with Diane Von Furstenberg for H. Stern jewelry to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s Third Annual Front Row Fashion Show, where I was honored with a Fashion Icon Award. My dead friend and author of The Cheetah Girls, Deborah Gregory, presented me with the honor. It was an incredible evening with a bevy of stunning models, brilliant fashion designers, the sensational Vanessa Williams, and fellow icons Tyson Beckford, Keith Major, Audrey Smaltz, Oscar James and Ross Burton.
See you next week. XO,
