Summer Movies for Smart, Sassy Women
Personally, I love summer movies, and not just because of all the HULKy Panavision man candy. Superheroes aside, the girls of summer are arriving at a theater near you. Here’s a sneak peek: photos, trailers and all…
First to walk the red carpet—this weekend, in fact—is TV’s most popular girl posse. Sex and the City’ (http://www NULL.sexandthecitymovie NULL.com/)s Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte haven’t had a new episode in four years. In the fashion world, that’s an eon. In TV, that’s practically a generation. In real time, that’s long enough for the rest of us to squint through the jelled soft-focus lens and count errant their wrinkles (go on, admit it: that’s what you’ll be doing…)
Trivia: Around 300 pieces of jewelry were lent to the movie, by the jeweler H Stern.
SMW Rating: More sassy than smart. (PS: Best movie trailer is #2… (http://www NULL.sexandthecitymovie NULL.com/))
What would summer be without a kick-ass chick flick from the hottest mama in filmdom? Angelina Jolie’s Wanted (http://www NULL.imdb NULL.com/title/tt0493464/trailers-screenplay-vi184287513) gives her to us, just the way we (and the men panting in the audience beside us) want her: buff, pumping iron, and indestructible. Oh, and check out those heels….
That’s What She Said: “I always play women I would date.” —Angelina Jolie
SMW Rating: Both Smart AND Sassy

(http://www NULL.imdb NULL.com/video/trailer/vi3165782297/) Meryl Streep proves she’s one spicy meatball in the film version of the theatrical musical version of the hit song by the ’70s Swedish pop group ABBA. Watching Meryl Streep singing and dancing in a musical is sheer pleasure. She seems to be having the time of her life—and why not? She’s being chased by Pierce Brosnan and Mr. Darcy’s alter ego, Colin Firth.
Trivia: Meryl Streep went all the way to Stockholm to do her vocal for the song “The Winner Takes it All”—then finished it, in only one take. Talk about AWESOME. It’s another reason why we are diggin’ her as the ultimate dancin’ queen…
SMW Rating: Both Smart AND Sassy.

Playing a radio talk show host who has everything to lose—publicly and romantically—when it comes to light that her upcoming nuptials to Colin Firth (ding, dong! Double Darcy score this summer!) are threatened by the news that she is apparently already married (thanks to a techie prank) to a beefcake fireman (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) allows our gal Uma to be soft as well as sexy.
That’s What She Said: “Desperation is the perfume of the young actor. It’s so satisfying to have gotten rid of it. If you keep smelling it, it can drive you crazy. In this business a lot of people go nuts, go eccentric, even end up dead from it. Not my plan.“ —Uma Thurman
SMW Rating: Both Smart AND Sassy.
