Who’s Your Momma!

As Mother’s Day approaches, many of us will reflect on the women in our lives who have helped to shape us into the people we are today.

Over the years, the traditional family unit has undergone a dramatic change. Families like people, come in all shapes and sizes and don’t necessarily constitute blood relatives or include a mother in the traditional sense. What defines a family today is no longer the Ozzie and Harriett picture perfect family unit.

And that goes the same for the women we refer to as “mom”. In fact, if you look up the word “mother” in the dictionary, one of the definitions you will find is: to look after somebody with great care and affection.

So as we honor our “mothers” this Mother’s Day, lets also reflect on the other women and men in our lives who have been there for us and played the role of “mother” when we needed them the most.

Whether your special person is your biological mother, step-mother, aunt, grandmother, friend, nanny, teacher, neighbor or dad who has been both a mother and father, this weekend take a moment to pause and reflect on how they contributed in a positive way to who you are today. Better yet, let them know.

From all of us at SingleMindedWomen.com, we wish everyone that has played the “role” of mom, a very Happy Mother’s Day!
