		<description>I thought that it wasn&#039;t illegal for companies to discriminate on the basis of marital status, that it wasn&#039;t one of the defined groups (gender, race, sexual orientation, etc). In practice companies discriminate against single people all the time (the offer benefits for the spouses of married employees, but only offer benefits for one person for single employees- that&#039;s unequal pay for the same job).</description>
