I love vintage shopping just as much as the next girl, but it’s not always easy to incorporate these pieces into my outfits. One thing I have learned, however, is the importance of balancing these retro pieces with modern ones.

The world of fashion is abuzz right now, and rightfully so — fall fashion is everywhere. The shows were spectacular, the clothes were refreshing and now it’s time to incorporate these aspects into your wardrobe.

It has been quite some time since we have seen the turtleneck in a mainstream manner. This winter staple is back, however, and better than ever! Designers like Proenza Schouler showed the world that turtlenecks can be edgy and sassy. This Tissue Turtleneck Tee from J.Crew is lightweight (great for layering!) and comes in a huge range of colors. Add some jewelry to sparkle it up, or wear it with a pair of skinny jeans for a sleeker look.

Another garment not heard from in recent times is the cape. Every season brings new, must-have pieces that make it hard for me not to run to the nearest department store. As stylish as some of these items may be, it is important to know where to make your investments. If it’s not going to be around in a few seasons, you may not want to spend three paychecks on it. If you’re still looking to vogue it out, here are some of the best fall has to offer . . . at a price that suits your wallet.

Leather is everywhere, including the revival of the beat-up leather jacket. While real leather is costly, check out faux leather for a cost-effective alternative. This jacket from Forever 21 has zippers and snaps to add unique style. Channel your inner James Dean by throwing on a pair of skinny jeans and dark glasses.
