Culinary Tour, with Celebrity Chef Maria Liberati
By Josie Brown
The wine. The food. The countryside. Italy has so much to offer – especially if you’re able to combine all of it into a culinary tour with your gal pals.
Ideally your week of wining, dining and cooking would be taught by a master chef, in a spacious villa nestled in the hills of Umbria.
Well, that can be arranged.
The Basic Art of Italian Cooking by Maria Liberati Cooking School offers a weeklong women-only of exploration, both in and out of the kitchen, where you’ll learn intracacies of Italian cuisine with Ms. Liberati, where you will recreate recipes from her bestselling book, The Basic Art of Italian Cooking.
Each program is held for a 7day/6 night period. You’ll be a guest in the villa that houses the cooking school that is nestled in the hills of Umbria, in the town of Sismano.
Participation is limited to only twelve. Visitors are given the choice to stay at the villa double or single occupancy, or at the luxury suites in the local castle of Sismano (just five minutes away from villa).
After morning cooking clasess and lunch at the villa, you’ll have free time in the afternoon, to take in the local sights, such as a nearby winery or olive mill, shopping in local village, and a tour of the Pardi Cantina.
Prices range from $1,795 – $2,395, depending on accommodations. Airfare and travel expenses are not included. A deposit is required. There is a $200 discount if you book your reservation by May 1, 2009.
