Healthy Toddler Recipes: Apple Oatmeal

Moms strive to make every meal a healthy one. For me, breakfast is the easiest to actually accomplish that task with. Plus, it really helps to start the day off right. More often than not, my twin toddlers get a serving of oatmeal for breakfast. That is just what they ask for most often. Yes, I give them the choice in the morning to pick their own breakfast. I make it with whatever fruit is in season. Apple oatmeal is the standout favorite . And that is fine with me since it is so easy to make.
- 1 cup milk (or water or apple cider)
- 2/3 cup of rolled oats
- 1 apple, peeled, cored and diced
- Cinnamon to taste
Prepare your preferred oatmeal with milk instead of water. I have substituted apple cider during the fall season when we get it from the orchard. Depending on the variety, it is sometimes super sweet, so taste before starting. When it is simmering on the stove and just about 5 minutes from being done, add the diced apples and apple sauce. Cook for 5 minutes and season with cinnamon before serving.
