His Cheating Heart: Women Don’t Forgive, or Forget
By Josie Brown
Peace on Earth, good will toward men? Nope, not if they’ve cheated on you.
A series of studies carried out by the British dating site, Smooch.com, (http://www NULL.smooch NULL.com) and ManCentral.com (http://www NULL.mancentral NULL.com), a free gay chat site, highlights that when it comes to trusting cheats, women find it hard to forgive.
And no, they don’t forget his infidelity, either.
For the study, Smooch.com (http://www NULL.smooch NULL.com/) polled 2,040 members, and ManCentral.com (http://www NULL.mancentral NULL.com/) polled 1,998 members, over a 24 hour period, on this question: Once a cheat, always a cheat?
Over 64% of women surveyed ‘definitely’ agreed with the statement, compared with only 45% of men.
Interestingly, the results showed that men were more likely to forgive and forget. In fact, 36% of men responding, ‘People make mistakes’, while less than a quarter of women agreed with the statement.
Of course, it’s not known if these men are speaking from experience, or whether they truly are more forgiving than women.
Additional breakdowns revealed that:
- People with a PhD (67%) are almost twice as likely to respond ‘Definitely’ than those with a Masters Degree (34%).
- Unsurprisingly, divorcees (59%) are less forgiving than those who are married (29%).
- People in a relationship (19%) are nearly 4 times as likely to choose ‘It’s only cheating if you get caught’ than single respondents (5%).
- Does your zodiac sign make a difference as to how you feel about infidelity? Perhaps. Those with the star sign Cancer are least forgiving with 64% choosing “Definitely,” whie the most forgiving starsign is Gemini with 34% choosing ‘People make mistakes’.
It would also appear that age and sexuality bare no significant effect on the male perspective. Results from ManCentral.com (http://www NULL.mancentral NULL.com/) paralleled that of the men who responded on Smooch; only 40% of gay men ‘definitely’ believed that once a cheat, always a cheat.
Ho ho man ho . . .
