For almost a decade now, pharmaceutical companies have been on a mission: to make a pill that puts–and keeps–women in the mood for sex.

If they accomplish this goal, the market it is (no pun intended) HUGE: studies show that 40 percent of women have what is now called a “diminished female libido.”

However, 25 percent of these ladies say they don’t view this as a problem.

The rest of us hope they hear us when we say: “You don’t know what you’re missing.”

So, why haven’t the drug companies succeeded in this quest?

Turns out that the female orgasm is psychological as well as physical.

What, you think it’s just one more we in which we women are being “difficult?”

I should say not. If anything, it’s proof positive that we women are complex creatures; that, unlike men, mere visual and physical stimulation don’t necessarily lead to something as exacting as, say, an erection.

Sure a hug and a kiss will ignite a few sparks. But guys: if you want to set us on fire, try a few declaratory statements about your love.

Then surprise us with some random acts of passion. Plan dates in advance, that give us something to appreciate and anticipate.

If you can bottle romantic behavior in men, you’ll truly have a Love Potion Number 9.
