5 Obssesion-Worthy Beauty Products

By Catherine Conelly

In what feels like a long search for the perfect product, it helps to take advice from real women who already buy and try so many different kinds. This is exactly what the SheKnows Beauty Awards aims to provide. As part of the process I, along with our team of editors, sampled, slathered, conditioned and cleansed to test out the best of the best. As a result, here are five winning products that have an extra special place in my own beauty cabinet.

Clarisonic MiaClarisonic Mia
1st Place, Best Electric Cleanser

The Clarisonic Mia took our SheKnows Editor’s Choice, as well as first place among our readers. I used to feel like this was an unnecessary splurge item. I also tend to baby my skin so my immediate reaction was, “Won’t that harm or stretch my pores?” I wanted nothing to do with it. Well, I was wrong. By using this hot commodity just once a day you will have a more even complexion and it will clean your skin on a whole new level. Don’t be afraid to jump on this bandwagon!

Jane Iredale In Touch HighlighterJane Iredale In Touch Highlighter
1st Place, Best Highlighter

When I hear other women talk about highlighters the general reaction is, “Do I really need another product? What makes it different?” If you only like to wear a light amount of makeup, a highlighter paired with your favorite tinted moisturizer are your two best friends. A highlighter will help contour and brighten your complexion and since Jane Iredale overall took first place with our readers for natural makeup brands, it’s a good place to start. The In Touch highlighter was a number one pick in its respective category.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin CleanserCetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
1st Place, Best Dry Skin Cleanser

If you’re ever going through a skin slump or if you find yourself facing weird reactions and can’t find the culprit, stop using everything and start using this Cetaphil cleanser with a simple moisturizer for a couple weeks. My mom started me on this product when I first started washing my face as a kid and I’ve always gone back to it.Josie Maran’s Argan Tinted Moisturizer

Josie Maran’s Argan Tinted Moisturizer
3rd Place, Tinted Moisturizer

I am not one to wear heavy foundation. I grew out of that stage pretty quickly and began a search for products that still offer enough cover up, walking the fine line between an even complexion and caked-on coverage. Despite the fact that you won’t find a single harmful ingredient in Josie Maran’s products, her tinted moisturizer will cover up just enough of your imperfections and truly give your skin a glow. It’s a great product for the no-makeup makeup look.

Philosophy Hope In a Jar Extra-Rich MoisturizerPhilosophy Hope In a Jar Extra-Rich Moisturizer
1st Place, Best Dry Skin Moisturizer

It’s probably no secret that philosophy has a stellar philosophy, aiming to inspire your skin and your spirit. I do truly believe that the just-right skin care routine can boost your confidence and therefore your overall well-being. So, if you have a great product like this that slaps inspiring words on their label, you can’t lose.

The SheKnows Beauty Awards aim to recognize makeup, skincare and hair care products that stand out in a vast market of leading brands and tested formulas. The awards highlight products that have set themselves apart as leaders in the beauty industry and give SheKnows.com readers the information they need to make educated decisions about their hair, skin and makeup needs. Nominated products are reviewed by SheKnows editors and hand-picked for quality, visible results, longevity, innovation and more. Winners are determined via an organic online voting process open to the public and are announced on the SheKnows website annually.

For the 2013 SheKnows Beauty Awards, the SheKnows team narrowed down 300 product finalists from more than a thousand submissions. . From there, the voting process was opened to the public online as readers carefully voted and selected the first-ever SheKnows Beauty Awards winners. The SheKnows editorial team also picked their favorites to round up the Editors’ Choice Award winners.
