Expert Skincare Advice for Beautiful Summer Skin

By Allison Neves

Skin behaves differently from season to season, and as a result, your regularly scheduled beauty regime should adjust with the weather. Single Minded Women (http://www NULL.singlemindedwomen NULL.com/) recently had the opportunity to sit down with San Francisco beauty pro and medical aesthetician Susan Perry (http://www NULL.susanperry NULL.com/) to get the lowdown on what to keep on hand in order to stay HOT in the summer heat. Check out her tips for saving face in the summer sun.

Beautiful Natural GirlIf you have oily skin and live in a climate where humidity climbs during the hot season, Perry says opt for a lighter moisturizer during hotter months, such as BioMedic Hydro Active Emulsion (http://www NULL.dermstore NULL.com/product_Hydro+Active+Emulsion_1212 NULL.htm) or a hyaluronic acid-rich serum such as SkinCeuticals B5 Gel (http://www NULL.skinceuticals NULL.com/_us/_en/catalog/moisturize/Hydrating-B5-Gel NULL.htm).

Vitamin A products that you may use on a regular basis can make the skin more sensitive to its rays. During the summer months, it would be smart to switch to a Vitamin C-based product. You will still get the anti-wrinkle benefits, but Vitamin C will help protect against UV rays as well. Perry says to apply SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic (http://www NULL.skinceuticals NULL.com/_us/_en/catalog/prevent/C-E-Ferulic NULL.htm) under your sunblock daily to boost your UV protection. If you’re acne-prone, use a comparable product by the same company called Phloretin CF (http://www NULL.skinceuticals NULL.com/_us/_en/catalog/prevent/Phloretin-CF NULL.htm).

Don’t forget the SPF. Says Perry, “Sunblock is a must, even on cloudy days.” Both Perry and her clients rave about La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios SPF 60 (http://www NULL.laroche-posay NULL.us/_us/_en/consumer/catalog/ByType/Aging/anthelios-60-ultra-light-sunscreen-fluid-for-face NULL.htm?), now available in the States.

A-listers Cameron Diaz and Cate Blanchett also use a powder sunscreen called Colorescience (http://www NULL.colorescience NULL.com/), which Perry recommends for both acne-prone skin. Says Perry, “Use the brand’s tinted powder over a SPF 30 sunscreen or higher in place of a foundation. This is great for all skin types.”

Alright gals, consider yourself armed, dangerous and ready for the long, hot, sultry summer. Bring it!
