Fashion & Beauty Advice: Make the Old New Again
By Maggie Malach
As the giving season is starting, I am going through my closet, donating my old clothes and revamping what I already have. I love taking the old and changing it up to modernize it — and make it even better. Here are some ways to update your wardrobe:
Take classic pieces of clothing and style them up with jewelry. Big, statement necklaces are very popular right now. Rather than replacing your shirts, invest in a fun, sparkly piece of jewelry you can wear the entire holiday season — and beyond. Mixing metals is also a great way to take necklaces you already have and turn them into something new.
Add a scarf. Scarves of all types are huge right now. My favorite is the new infinity scarf — you can wear it a different way every day! Not only do they keep away the winter chill, they instantly polish up any outfit.
Layer. One way I keep my wardrobe fresh is by constantly mixing and matching what I have. Layering is practical in colder weather, but also allows you to get the maximum mileage out of your clothes. Feel free to mix and match colors and patterns. Experiment with different textures and weights until you find something unexpectedly chic.
