Get Natalie Portman’s ‘Black Swan’ Look

By Maggie Malach

Natalie Portman has swept this awards season with her breathtaking “Black Swan” performance and flawless red carpet style. Both at events and while running errands, Natalie has been paying homage to her character’s prima ballerina look. Want to imitate this classic style? Here are a few simple steps.

Simplicity. Natalie’s character Nina’s wardrobe staples are cardigans and camisoles. Try stores like Ann Taylor, J.Crew and Banana Republic to find pieces that are both form-fitting and delicate.

Bad hair day? No problem. Throughout “Black Swan” Nina’s hair is pulled off her face in a sleek bun. This awards season we have seen Natalie echo this look, her hair ranging from sophisticated chignons to pinned back curls. No matter how she styles it, though, the look is always polished and off her face.

Think pink. Pink is a color naturally associated with ballerinas, so it’s no surprised that both Natalie and Nina have been spotted with subtle pink manicures. If you are struggling to find just the right shade, try the aptly named Ballet Slippers by essie. It’s adds a soft touch, but is just enough to pull your look together.

Remember, above all, Natalie always looks elegant and pulled together. Even when running errands, she keeps her look simple with straight leg jeans and ballet flats. When channeling her style, don’t forget that less is more.
