Shaping Up Your Fall Wardrobe
By Maggie Malach
The mercury may still be hitting the 90s, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start piecing together your outfits for the cooler weather. As tempting as it may be to want to run out and purchase all of the fresh styles that are hitting the store, it’s always good to take a look at your existing closet and see what can transition over. Here are a few things that you should hang on to:
Cropped pants are perfect because they are so versatile. Worn with flats they allude to an Audry Hepburn-esque vibe, but worn with heels they show off your stunning shoes (and lengthen your legs!). They definitely give a tailor look to any outfit. Don’t have a pair of straight leg jeans short enough for the job? Simply put one cuff in a longer pair and you are ready to go!
If you were a fan of combining the urban and feminine looks, then chances are you have a leather jacket somewhere. This was a great piece for toughening up summer pieces; now it’s perfect for polishing off your fall look. Throw it over any outfit and finish it off with a scarf for a pulled together, chic ensemble.
My key summer staple is a light tank top. I have so many that I hate to let them sit for the cooler eight months of the year. My solution? Mix and match your tanks with cardigans. A well-fitted sweater with a pair of tailored jeans is a classic look that can be changed up depending upon your jewelry and other accessories.
